& Regulations page.
Any recommendations on
how to prepare for this event?
Absolutely. OISC's "Prepare
for the Ottawa Inline Festival" course starting
in July will help get you in shape and teach you
valuable skills and technique to assist you in
achieving your Inline Festival goals. Also,
our
e-newsletter, On a Roll, is packed full of
nutritional, motivational, and technical articles
from experts in the field.
Can I enter more than
one event?
Absolutely. Consult the Event
Details page for the events schedule, then
register online or by mail.
You only pay for the longest distance event (except
the 21 km relay) + $15. You will receive
a finishing medal in every event you compete in.
Can I take my baby stroller
along?
Yes - in the 5k family event only.
Baby strollers are not allowed in the 10k, 21k,
and 42.2k events due to the increased risk they
represent in competitive inline events.
How can I make a formal
complaint/compliment?
Email inlinefestival@inlineottawa.com
What is the course like?
Superb pavement re-finished in August
2007. That means the course is fast and super
smooth and there are no pavement hazards at all.
Given the super scenic location with the Ottawa
River as backdrop, we aren't making any guarantees
about loca l small wildlife (squirrels I'm thinking
here), though! The festival organizers have
made every effort to ensure turns are as wide
and safe as possible.
Will water stations and
porta potties be available? Will Gatorade
or other
sports drinks be available at the water stations
and what flavour?
Porta potties will be available near
the start/finish line. There will also be
a water station at the turnaround near Festival
Village and there is a post-race recovery area.
Sports drinks may be available at the water station
and recovery area, but we cannot guarantee brand
or flavour.
Where can I park?
We are working to secure parking at the
Aviation Museum. From there it's an easy 3 km
skate along Rockcliffe Parkway to Festival Village
at P7, across from Kaymar Road access point. This
part has not been repaved. Alternatively you can
park on side streets
in Rothwell Heights or Beacon Hill that have access
points. Note: there is no car access to Festival
Village.
When and where can I
pick up my race kit?
Inline Festival Kit Pick up will occur
on Saturday, August 30 between 12:00-4:00 pm at
Malone's in the Dows Lake Pavillion (where Queen
Elizabeth turns into Prince of Wales) and on the
day of the event at the Inline Festival venue
between the hours of 9:00 am and about 45 minutes
prior to your event. NOTE: the
45 minute cutoff time is for race kit pickup only
-- you must still be registered before 12 noon
on Sunday.
Do you have any travel
and accommodation information?
For national capital tourist information,
the National
Capital Commission website is a great place
to start. If you want to be billetted with local
skaters e-mail volunteer@inlineottawa.com.
How can I volunteer for
this event?
Please email volunteer@inlineottawa.com.
Will there be pace bunnies?
No.
Is there a cutoff time
for each event?
No. However, all participants must
complete their respective events by 6:00 pm at
the latest. Rockcliffe Parkway will be re-opened
to motor traffic at that time.
I
would like to sponsor/advertise/or sell merchandise
at this event. Who do I contact?
Please
email us at president@inlineottawa.com
What
if it rains? Are their refunds? Can I transfer
my registration fee to a different event or to
next year?
Races will proceed rain or shine, but may be cancelled
due to severe weather at the race organizer's
sole discretion. There are no refunds in the event
of rain, cancellation, or for any other reason.
Entry fees cannot be transfered to different events
or dates.
Are
there shower facilities for after the race?
