The 2011 OISC Festival will take place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June

Race Schedule & Details

The Ottawa Inline Skating Club Festival is a great opportunity to participate in races from a 5 km family race to a full marathon. Organized by skaters for skaters, the whole day is about celebrating and enjoying inline skating.

The races take place on the pristine, freshly paved Rockcliffe Parkway between the Blair Road pedestrian access point (2 km east of Aviation Museum and Rockcliffe Airport) and St Joseph Blvd. The route is safe, smooth and fast with a scenic Ottawa River and forest backdrop. Events begin immediately following the season's final NCC/Alcatel Sunday Bikeday.

This festival is for recreational, fitness and competitive skaters alike. If you do not complete an event by the cut off time, you are allowed to continue skating to the finish time. We do require that you skate along the shoulder of the road though, so as not to interfere with the next event. Chip timing will be provided by SportsStats, with a complete ranking breakdown by age and gender categories.

Triple Crown

We've designed the schedule so that participants can skate or watch several races during this jam-packed afternoon. Beginning with the 10k (starting at 1:15 pm), those skaters who wish to get more distance in can skate in at least 3 events, i.e.. the 10k, 42k, 21k. The NROC Pro division will skate the Triple Crown (all events).

For Kids, Parents & Families

The 5k Family race is designed to give youngsters an opportunity to try out a skating event, but with all the benefits of racing, including sweat check, race bibs, finishers medals, award ceremony and prizes for the top 3 male and female finishers, web-published finishing times and use of the recovery area for refreshments afterwards. We invite a parent or guardian to accompany their children if they wish.

Timing and Age Categories

Timing

Electronic timing will be provided by SportStats. Results will be available online at http://www.sportstats.ca/ on the day of the race. Results will be shown by event and gender and broken down into the following age categories:

We will close the timing system at 6:15 pm at the latest to allow us to reopen the road by 6:30. Therefore, those skaters in the 21 k half marathon with times over 1.5 hours will not achieve an official time.

Timing Chips will be available near the start line. All skaters will receive a different chip for each race they have entered. Make sure you wear the correct chip and matching bib for each race! You must have your bib in order to pick up your corresponding timing chip.

Timing chips are not included in your registration kit. Timing chips will be available around noon on race day at the Festival village. Please do not forget to pick up your timing chip before your events! A different timing chip is required for each race. Return your chip and pick up your new chip before participating in your next race.

You may also use a personal timing chip. You may use either a Champion Chip timing chip or an AMB ChipX timing chip. You must inform us what your timing chip identifier is upon registration. Note that AMB Elite transponders are not supported.

Warm up Area

The Festival features a double wide finish line, allowing for exciting field sprints at the end of each event. Because the finish line timing wire will extend across the entire road, skaters ARE NOT ALLOWED to warm up west of the Festival Village intersection. Warm up MAY be done on the course to the east of the Festival Village (between events only!), or on Massey lane to the west towards the underpass.
