Time Trials
Purpose
Monthly time trials will allow inline skaters to: improve or surpass their personal goals or previous times, help racing concentration, provide a good speed workout, evaluate and monitor fitness/technique level as well as their training program effectiveness, socialize with other members, and be better prepared for races and competitions.
Also, this type of event is an excellent opportunity for OISC to: attract the attention of the community through the club website or local media; promote inline skating; and diversify club activities and our training schedule.
Where and When
Monthly time trials will take place at either Asticou Centre or the National Research Council on Montreal Road on Thursday evenings as published in our Time Trial Schedule. Also, the Club offers monthly 10KM and 20KM fun races in the Gatineau Park North Loop (P8) as another way of timing your progress. Official club time trials will be starting in April.
Safety
We will have youth volunteers and club members assisting with ensuring roads are clear, calling skaters to the starting line, providing time trial instructions and record their finish time.
Procedures
- All time trial participants must be OISC members or must be invited specifically by OISC to attend.
- Time trials will begin at 6:30pm after warm-up and stretching.
- All types of skates are allowed between 2 and 6 wheels including roller skates and roller skis.
