NEW! InlineOttawa is holding its first ever invitational indoor competition. This unique 5 hour event, will focus on bringing together inline skaters from different skating clubs and allowing skaters to compete with other skaters in their ability range through unique race formats. The event is limited to 32 skaters so register quickly to ensure you get a spot.

Event Details
This event is limited to 32 skaters, and will be held twice; December 6th 2008, and February 7th 2009. The event will be held from 11AM until 4PM at the Multisport sports complex in Hull (http://www.centremultisport.qc.ca). Our event will be held on the basketball court at the far end of the second floor. For race bib pickup, please fine head coach Michael Garvin court side. Washrooms and fountains are available near the court.
We are renting the venue for a specific period of time, skaters may not enter the court area until 11AM and must leave the court area by 4PM. Also note that ABSOLUTELY NO LIQUIDS are allowed on the court area. The court surface must be completely dry for the safety of skaters.
All skaters will be required to wear a certified safety helmet appropriate for skating or cycling. We strongly recommend the use of wrist guards.
Equipment: You may use recreational or speed skates, but we recommend you remove your heel break, as the use of heel breaking is not allowed on this court (it damages the surface). In addition the turns are tight, and crossing over with a heel break may be challenging for some skaters. For wheels club sponsor iL Peloton recommends Atom A-One wheels. You can find full details here.
Race Format
This event is an invitation to skaters from our own club and other clubs. Skaters of all ability levels are welcome. The event is limited to 32 skaters and a short time trial will be used to qualify skaters for one of 4 ability groups. The remaining races of the day will see skaters compete with others in their ability group. Rankings and prizes will be done for each ability group.
The use of heel brakes are NOT allowed. Also, do not drag (T-stop) your wheels. This surface scuffs easily; ensure you stop using ducking or snow plowing.
Our overall goal is to bring together skaters from local skate clubs and have a fun day of indoor races. Our indoor venue is quite unique; large, open sunlit basketball court with an extremely grippy surface (a hard rubber surface). Skaters used to concrete hockey rinks will find our surface to be a more resistant workout, but also be able to make much faster turns comfortably.
