Early season training at the club will include lots of pack skating at low to moderate levels. As the season develops interval training will be slowly introduced. This training approach allows your body time to build up after a long winter of being off wheels. In addition building your cardio capacity before doing speed training helps avoid overtraining and reduce the risk of injury.
The club membership is a broad range of skaters at various skill levels. No matter what level of skating you are at you will find a group to skate with. What's more, after-skate gatherings at local pubs are not uncommon, pack up for more than skating!
In addition to pack skating, the early season has a strong focus on technique. A more efficient skater is a faster skater!
This program is geared to systematically ramp up skaters for a peak just before the mid-season events such as:
- Canada Day Marathon
- Nationals Marathon
- 24 hrs Inline
- and others...
The club will be training at the NRC campus and as soon as the Gatineau Park is open, the Tuesday night sessions will be held at the P8 loop. This hill profile venue will add some spice to your early season build up.
