A2A and Defi - Long distance legends !
Mark in 2005 Ever considered skating 138 km in Georgia (Athens to Atlanta) or circumnavigate the entire Island of Montreal (128 k)? I've skated the Defi in Montreal 4 times - and each time is etched in memory. A lot happens over 128 k including making good friends along the way.

OK, so some years it's been wet. So what?! There's nothing like environmental adversity to satisfy the need for epic experiences. Plus most years, the weather is amazingly beautiful! Read the long distance tales of skaters from years past and be ready to be inspired!
And, importantly, A2A does have a variety of distances, from a 10 k (new this year) to the 138k journey.
Race Report: North Shore Inline Marathon
North Shore Marathon Start in waves
Mike Garvin's posted a great report on his race - this guy knows no limits, not even broken bones keep him off skates and top results. Plus check out his GPS graph.
Several Canadian skaters came in top 10 in their categories. Congratulations to Mike, Herb Gayle, Morgan Williams, Sarah Hopkins, Dan Thompson, Peter Doucet - read his report and catch the video on Speedskateworld, Sergio Almeralla, Ryszard Adamczyk, Conny Strub and quite a few other Canadian skaters. North Shore Inline Marathon results.
Whatever happened to Jordan Belchos?
Jordan competes on inlines After this year's Ottawa Inline Skating Festival, I was wondering that aloud to Jan and I ended up goolging Jordan. He was a top junior inline skater and had started seriously challenging the senior level elites.

He and others were scouted at our first Festival in 2005 by the Own the Podium program for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. (Check out "Believe" by Suzie McNeil and the NAC Orchestra - a cool project by Bell - part of its Olympic sponsorship and Own the Podium fundraiser)

Turns out Jordan's moved to Calgary and is training hard. He not only made the Speed Skating Development Program this year - he also made the 2007 World Junior Long Track Speed Skating team and competed well at that level. Guess those 2 Inline World's helped out, too.

At 17, Jordan has a lot of skating ahead of him, and I'm sure his Olympic Long Track Dreams are big.
