The Olympics are over, we've seen inliners win big in long track speed skating, and I for one am inspired to get down to planning my inline season. Welcome to the 2006 inline skating season!

    Important first date of the year: March 30, 2006, 7 pm at the St Anthony's Soccer Club, 523 St. Anthony Street (off Preston St.) in Ottawa.

    It'll be a wonderful evening of socializing and reconnecting with old skating pals. Enjoy complementary munchies and a cash bar along with a full presentation of our exciting plans for the 2006 season. Special early registration bonuses will be offered to all people who register on or before March 30.

    Recreational program preview

    For 2006, OISC will provide two levels of recreational and fitness weekly programs to OISC members.

    Recreation 1: The focus for this group will be honing basic inline skating skills and building confidence on skates.

    Recreation 2: This group’s focus is mostly recreational skating as a way to enjoy the outdoors and adopt a more active lifestyle. Programming for this level will include instruction on improving skating technique and gain solid fundamentals.


    Speed Skating Preview

    In 2006, the Fitness / Speed program is divide into two levels.

    Fitness / Speed Program 3 is for members that master recreational skating and are interested in speed skating.

    Fitness / Speed Program 4 is designed to help speed skaters optimize their technique, obtain peak conditioning and use periodization for preparing for races.


    Alcatel Sunday Bikedays are back!

    From June 4 to August 27, 2006 we are offering basic skills workshops on Colonel By Drive. Facilitated by instructors from the Ottawa Inline Skating Club, these workshops are geared to new skaters who want to learn about skating safety, inline skating equipment, and try out basic techniques including classic stride, turning and braking.

    After the resounding success of our inaugural festival with 230 registrations, we have set the 2006 date! All inline skaters, from kids to serious racers are invited to spend an amazing Labour Day Weekend in Canada's capital city, truly the skating capital in North America.

    May 28, 2006 - The inline half and full marathon are back again! One of the marquee inline skating events for skaters across North America, we expect another great experience for all.
