Dear OISC,
We've had so much action in June, I feel like
I need a breather just writing about them. This issue
covers both local and far flung inline skating stuff.
Enjoy! |

Nationals in
Ottawa The national championships
are taking place in Ottawa this
weekend. Indoor championships were held on the 5th
and 6th at Sandy Hill arena, and the outdoor
championships are on today and tomorrow (7th and
8th) at Carleton University, parking lot 5. Take in some action and
support inline skaters!

Calories and
Skating Mike put together a
pretty thorough caloric perspective
on skating.
And alas what site would be complete
without a calorie
calculator. Thanks
Mike! |

OISC Race team: a desire to
train
Lead by Stephane Tremblay, the OISC race team
offers the opportunity to all club's members to
train with them on two other occasions during the week.
Desire to learn and to train are the only requirements.
You're invited: Tuesday July 10th - Race Team
Clinic, Special location: Aylmer Track @ 6:30PM. If you can
volunteer to bring an extra broom and help clean the
track, please let us know.
Every Wednesday
morning 6AM, you can join the Wednesday Skating
Boot Camp where participants do some jogging and
stretching followed by leg and core strengthening
exercises including hill runs, low walks, sit-ups,
push-up and sprints for 1 hour. Please note that this
training is not on skates.
On Saturday
morning the training session is a bit longer
usually starting at 9:30AM for at least 2 hours. We do
sprints and longer distance track skates,
intervals, relays, track techniques including tight
turns, cross-overs, overtaking, starts and finishes. We
finish with stretching and core and leg strengthening
exercises. These two training sessions are excellent
opportunities to strengthen your muscles, improve your
fitness level and skating skills. For
information on these sessions and more e-mail stephane.tremblay@rogers.com. |
